Castles & Kings, the long-lost Atari 5200 prototype, is coming soon from Mean Hamster Software. Originally demonstrated in 2003, the game was canceled before release and nearly disappeared from the 5200 story.

John Hancock has put the spotlight back on the game in How I Found a Lost Atari 5200 Prototype with Gameplay! The video looks at the rare find, its history, the original cartridge, and gameplay footage.

The 2026 revival is credited to Jim Leiterman and John Swiderski. We will share more gameplay details and release information as development continues.
