Game Boy and Game Gear Games Come to Commodore 64!
Game Boy and Game Gear games come to Commodore 64! Our two new public MHS Power Engine emulators bring compatible handheld games to your C64 setup, fully playable with two-button joystick support (C64GS style).
GBVM runs Game Boy and Game Boy Color games, while GGVM brings Sega Game Gear to the same platform. The TeensyROM+ cartridge runs the emulators, with the Commodore 64 providing the display, SID sound, keyboard and joystick controls.
Game Boy Color: Super Mario Land 2 DX

Game Gear: Sonic the Hedgehog 2

These screenshots show the VMs' C64 F1 rendering, captured in software.
Plug in and play
A C64GS-style two-button joystick in port 2 gives you both action buttons. Fire is Game Boy's A or Game Gear's button 1; the second button is B or button 2. You can also use Space for the second button and Return for Start.
You need a TeensyROM+ v0.4 with a Teensy 4.1, current MPE firmware and your own compatible game ROMs. Each emulator is a separate download. Extract the ZIP to your SD card, keep your existing ROMs and saves, and open GBVM.crt or GGVM.crt. No game ROMs are included.
Get GBVM, GGVM and the current MPE firmware here, or visit the combined Game Boy and Game Gear page.
