DoomVM for TeensyROM+
Doom on a Commodore 64, powered by the MHS Power Engine and a VM that runs directly on the Teensy 4.1—fast, smooth, and free of REU or other add-on requirements.

Doom, powered by MPE
DoomVM is the first public release for the new MHS Power Engine (MPE), our virtual-machine platform for the TeensyROM+ cartridge. MPE puts the engine on the Teensy processor while the C64 supplies the display, SID sound, keyboard, and joystick controls.
The result is a fast, smooth Doom experience on the C64. It runs in the Teensy 4.1's 1 MB of memory, with no 16 MB REU, PSRAM, or other add-on setup required.
Two ways to see the action
DoomVM includes low- and high-resolution display modes so you can choose the look that suits your setup.

What you need
You need a TeensyROM+ v0.4 with a Teensy 4.1 and either the latest MPE-enabled firmware or our custom GUI firmware edition, HamsterOS_64. No 16 MB REU is needed.
TeensyROM hardware and the original firmware are the work of our friend Travis Smith of Sensorium Embedded. MHS developed the Power Engine, MPE Cartridge VM format, custom GUI, and DoomVM integration.
More virtual machines are on the way
DoomVM is only the beginning. We are developing more MPE engines, including NES and Game Boy emulators.
Download DoomVM
Download the MPE-enabled firmware and DoomVM from the project's Downloads section. The same project page includes installation steps and controls.
